Do I have to connect my bank?
No, and you cannot. Tended has no bank connection at all. You log what you spend, or photograph a receipt and let it read itself. Nothing of yours is linked to an account you would have to trust us with.
Is it free?
Free to start, and free to keep using for logging, budgets and households. You do not need an account to try it — open the app and start, and your spending stays on the phone until you decide to sign up.
What happens to my receipts?
A photographed receipt is read once, to pull out the merchant, the date and the lines. Receipts and spending summaries are read by Tended Intelligence so it can answer your questions. Nothing else leaves the app, and nothing is sold.
Does it work in my currency?
27 currencies, including XOF, NGN, KES, GHS and ZAR alongside USD, EUR and GBP. Currencies without decimal places are shown the way they are actually written, rather than with a forced .00 on the end.
Can my household share one budget?
Yes. One budget, and everybody logs into it. Each person sees what is left before they spend, which is the part that matters. You can keep personal spending separate at the same time — the two never mix.
What if I forget to log something?
Then log it later. Tended is a record, not a streak you can break. The research behind budgeting is clear that people almost never hit the number they set, and that spending falls anyway, so the app is built to be picked back up rather than to be perfect.
Does it work without signal?
Logging does. Cash wallets, budgets and your spending all work on the device. Reading a receipt needs a connection, because the reading happens on a server.
Can I delete everything?
Yes, from Settings, in the app. Deleting your account removes your spending, budgets, households you own and your chats with the coach. It says exactly what goes before you confirm it.
