Terms of Service

Last updated 17 September 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Tended. Using the app means you accept them. They are short on purpose.

What Tended is

A tool for recording and understanding your own spending. You log what you spend, or photograph a receipt and let the app read it, and it keeps track against budgets you set. It does not connect to your bank and it does not move money.

Using it

You may use Tended without an account, in which case your data stays on your device. With an account, you are responsible for keeping your sign-in details to yourself and for what happens under your account.

You agree not to:

  • use Tended for anything unlawful, or to store someone else's financial data without their knowledge;
  • attempt to break, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the service or anyone else's account;
  • copy, resell or redistribute the app, or take it apart to build a competing product;
  • use automated means to extract data from the service at scale.

You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and at least 13.

Your data is yours

You keep ownership of everything you put into Tended. You give us permission to store and process it only so far as running the app requires — the detail is in the privacy policy. We do not claim any right to your spending data beyond that, and we do not sell it.

Shared budgets

If you invite people into a shared budget, they can see the spending logged in it, including yours. Invite accordingly. If you created the household, deleting your account deletes it for everyone in it.

The coach is not financial advice

The coach is generated by a language model working from a summary of your spending. It is a useful second opinion and it is sometimes wrong — figures can be misread, a pattern can be imagined, a suggestion can be unsuitable for your circumstances.

Nothing in Tended is financial, tax, investment or legal advice. We are not regulated as a financial adviser and we are not acting as one. Check anything that matters before you act on it, and take professional advice for decisions of consequence.

Receipt reading is not perfect

Scanning a receipt is a convenience, not a guarantee. Totals and individual items can be misread, particularly on a crumpled or faint receipt. Anything the app extracts is yours to check and correct.

Free to use

Tended is currently free. If we introduce a paid tier we will tell you before it affects you, and using the free features will not start costing money without your agreement.

Availability

We try to keep Tended running and to keep your data safe, but we cannot promise it will always be available or entirely free of faults. We may change or withdraw features. If we ever shut the service down, we will give you reasonable notice and a way to get your data out.

Ending it

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, or where we are required to. If we do, we will tell you unless the law prevents us.

Liability

Tended is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profits, or for decisions you make based on what the app or the coach tells you. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to what you have paid us in the previous twelve months — which, while Tended is free, is nothing.

None of this limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change matters to you, we will tell you in the app rather than relying on you noticing the date above.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer elsewhere, this does not deprive you of protections you have at home.
